Twelve Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, and Jonah (The Daily Study Bible Series)
Published in Hardcover by Westminster John Knox Press (June, 1984)
Authors: Peter C. Craigie and John C. L. Gibson
Average review score:

A Practical, Scholarly, and Devotional Commentary
This commentary covers the last 7 of the minor prophets. It and its companion volume 1 (on the first 5 minor prophets) are a splendid help for anyone who wants to read these prophets as God's word for us. Craigie gives us the historical background for the books and relates them to our lives today. The commentary is full of pithy observations worth remembering. These volumes are more interestingly written and useful than several of the other volumes of the Old Testament Daily Study Bible that I have used.

Two Hands and a Knife
Published in Paperback by Writers Advantage (January, 2003)
Author: Terry Gibson

A GREAT BOOK FOR ALL AGES. I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!
Truly a great 'read'. The boy and his dog (which is half wolf) trying to survive in the wilderness kept me going from page to page and not wanting to put it down. The anguish of the family found me with a tear in my eye. And...the whole country being riveted to the news about the boy and his dog I found compelling!
I found it interesting that most of the characters in the story are not described, nor is there a mention of the time frame or date. The author has wittingly allowed the reader to 'paint' his own mental picture of what the players look like and when this happened. I like this aspect of the book enormously. The author can 'hold his head high' in the 'good taste' department, as well.
There are no off-color remarks or foul language to be found and parents everywhere should encourage their children to read this book. My hat is off to the author and only wish I could see the movie.

Usna: The United States Naval Academy: A Pictorial Celebration of 150 Years
Published in Hardcover by Harry N. Abrams, Incorporated (March, 1995)
Authors: Gale Gibson Kohlhagen, Ellen Boraz Heinbach, and Ellen Boraz
Average review score:

Very interesting!
I found this book to be very interesting and infomative. The pictures really give you a good idea of what the Academy is all about. I, myself, will be enrolling in July, 1999, and I am definitely glad I read this. It does a great job of describing what a future midshipman should expect. Definitely a great buy!

The Vigil: A Poem in Four Voices
Published in Hardcover by Louisiana State University Press (September, 1993)

Average review score:

Great read!
The Vigil is a work about survival amidst alcoholism and the daily struggles of life. I met Ms. Gibson at a literary festival and she autographed my copy of the book. She is a strong poetess and woman, and I would highly recommend reading this book, along with her others.

Nicely written funny little book
Just reading the first page of this little book makes you laugh "Hazel Pope was twelve years old when she first bared her buttocks for biscuits." Traces the story of a little boy who is grows up in a cafe, and how they end up in Africa. A Little bizarre at the end, but a nice book.

Walk in Beauty

Peaceful; uplifting; beautiful inside and out ...
I was exhausted physically and mentally as I walked into the little gift shop in Dallas Airport... This little book seemed to beckon me... I put my luggage down and opened it. The feel of the pages and the sight of those watercolors washed over me and I was litterally spellbound to read on.

Not since the fairytales of my childhood have I been torn between the illustrations and the text... yet there was no way to choose... So I read on... No with the voracity I usually have with a good book, but with the enjoyment of the first bite of Godiva chocolate or that first ray of sunlight that catches you unaware...

I bought the book. Not to have it. But to chare it. As for me, I had the experience. In the end, I kept the book... because I could not choose who to give it to. Today, I am buying 15 copies.

This book is a gift. To yourself and to others.
